Battery 2 Concept
Sound in a computer can be processed both in real time and offline. From a general point of view, offline sound processing (for example, in a sound editor) is ineffective – a lot of time is wasted on fruitless experimentation. In this case, firstly, you need to have a remarkable sonic imagination and experience in order to anticipate the final result in advance. Secondly, modern requirements imply variability of sounding, variability over time. And it is very difficult to implement it in a sound editor in isolation from the overall sound of the arrangement.
Thus, the very structure and style of a modern computer work force us to choose control of sound parameters in real time as the main method.
This is exactly the path that Native Instruments took when creating the Battery 2. The developers were faced with the task of providing the user with as many possibilities as possible to control the sound without overloading the interface. This difficult task was successfully solved by the developers.

Convenient interface for audio control.
In other words, Battery 2 is a matrix drum sampler with great real-time processing capabilities and high sound quality.

Technical advantages of Battery 2:
– Flexible filtration with 15 types of filters.
– Compression optimized for drum sounds.
– Up to four loops within a sample, each of which can be viewed in a separate window.
– Advanced modulation with envelopes and LFOs in the modulation section.
– Simplified display of Velocity Mapping (multilayer distribution of samples by dynamics in a cell).
– Additional processing like Lo-Fi, in which the parameters of the sampling rate, bit depth and saturation are adjusted.
– Matrix can be resized up to a maximum of 72 cells.
– Supports import of Akai, SF2, GIG, SD2, AIFF and WAV formats with a resolution from 8 to 32 bits, as well as ReCycle files: REX, RX2.
– The maximum number of sample layers distributed over the dynamics in a cell is 128.
– The maximum number of outputs is 32 mono or 16 stereo.

Battery 2 can be used as a stand-alone program, for example, on a stand-alone computer with an external MIDI controller, or as a plug-in in Audio Units, VSTi, DXi, RTAS format, depending on the platform and the specific host application.
