Perhaps the most interesting and unusual instrument in the collection is the specially tuned (out of tune) piano. According to the developers, their task was to “reproduce the sound of a piano that spent several days in the rain.” To this end, the piano made by “Svenska Pianofabriken” was slightly lowered the pitch of the third string for each note (the hammer strikes three strings simultaneously), which made it possible to achieve an inimitable sound. Notes are recorded in thirds, each looped after about 10 seconds of playing. Eight volume levels now surprise few people, but the instrument is still very valuable precisely for its wonderful sound, which is perfect for playing boisterous melodies by a pianist in some saloon

Wonderful Yamaha MJ 5 piano, recorded with two sets of microphones – Pop (close to the strings) and Jazz (close). In the first case, the instrument turned out to be brighter and more close, in the second – somewhat muted and soft, well suited for creating jazz compositions. Both instruments are suitable where chamberiness and lightness of sound is required, which cannot be provided by a concert grand piano.

A Malmsjo Grand piano recorded with two stereo pairs of microphones. White Grand has a brighter and more pronounced masculine sound, the sound will fit into any mix – both as an orchestral grand piano and in compositions of any genre. White Sister, on the contrary, sounds feminine, streamlined. Its best application is classical solo compositions.

TBO – The Big One / 7CG – Seven Seas Grand (Kontakt, HALion, EXS) 44.1 kHz, 24-bit Stereo, 31 velocity levels (notes, pedal, release)
A real monster is the Yamaha C7, recorded with an unprecedented degree of detail – 31 volume levels for each note (actually only for white notes, but it doesn’t matter :)) for notes with a pedal, without a pedal and release samples. During the recording, two stereo pairs of excellent Neumann microphones were used. The Big One is good for mixes and compositions, while 7CG is the place for piano solo melodies.
Size is approximately 12 GB per instrument.

A Steinway D grand piano recorded in three microphone arrangements – Close, Medium and Ambient. The very soft, sombrered, “night” timbre of the instrument is incredibly inspiring.
