Description:
The Italian Harpsichord Library is a sampled old harpsichord made in 1579 by Pierluigi in Livorno. Showcasing its sonic qualities for nearly half a millennium, it is a classic example of the Italian tradition of harpsichord making.
Compared to its Dutch and English brothers, Pierluigi’s harpsichord stands out above all for its fundamental, warm and deep sound.
This unique instrument, from the Andreas Beurmann collection, remains in excellent condition and is fully functional despite its venerable age …
Note:
1. The tuning of the instrument differs from the standard one (for use in an ensemble with other instruments, its “tuning” in the sampler is required).
2. The layout of the notes of the big octave also differs from the “classical” one.
Torrent composition :
Italian Harpsichord (1.08 GB) – folder with wav samples, Kontakt (.nki), HAlion (.fxp), EXS24 (.exs), Reason NN-XT (.sxt)
Italian Harpsichord Giga Format (1.78 GB) – folder with gig samples
Sounddemos – Edition Beurmann (115 MB) – folder with demo tracks of instruments from the “Edition Beurmann” series.
Italian Harpsichord – Info (English) – library description (pdf-document) (eng.)
Pierluigi Cembalo Liverno 1579 (Prof. Andreas E. Beurmann) – description of the original instrument (pdf-document) (German)
The library has been tested in “4th Contact” and GigaStudio3.
Downloading to Kontakt4:
Since the nki-patch of the library is designed for Kontakt2, when you first launch it (.nki) in Kontakt4, you may need to specify the path to the folder with wav-samples. In this case, when closing the instrument, you need to save its “changes” as a “patch” under the same or a new name (if you save under the same name in the old directory, the original nki-patch will be replaced by the sampler with the newly created patch).
This procedure may be needed once. On subsequent runs of the nki-file, the tool is loaded automatically.
I haven’t experimented with older versions of Kontakt.
Booting into GigaStudio3 is done in the usual way.
