SMEQ can be used to enhance or correct difficult material like vocal or instrumental soloists and bands, orchestral recordings and complex mixes without introducing unwanted coloration. SMEQ’s linear phase implementation provides a transparent character and simply boosts or cuts the frequency range without adding “sound”. These are fixed filter types on each band and a group of 2 to 6 connected in parallel. Filters are built in feedback / feedforward to provide cuts and boosts similar to analog graphic equalizers. Band 3 to 5 are constant-Q bells and 2 and 6 shelves. Group 1 and 7 are low / high cuts and are connected in series with the rest.
